Cancer deaths less likely in people taking aspirin -

(Reuters) - Taking aspirin daily may help protect against cancer but the effect seems weaker than previously thought, according to a U.S. study that included a decade's worth of data from more than 100,000 people.

People who said they took daily aspirin, whether "baby" or adult strength, had a 16 percent lower risk of dying from cancer than non-users overall, Thun and his colleagues found.

Only one gonorrhea drug left for routine cases: CDC -

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday it no longer recommends the use of cefixime, marketed under the brand name Suprax by Lupin Ltd, because it is becoming less effective. That leaves the injectable generic antibiotic ceftriaxone, used in combination with another antibiotic, as the last treatment option.

Until new treatments reach the market, experts say the best way to reduce the risk of drug-resistant gonorrhea is to rapidly diagnose the disease and fight it with combinations of two or more types of antibiotics at the same time.

CDC warns STD treatment is ineffective and fears 'gonorrhea epidemic' due to resistance to antibiotics. An estimated 700,000 cases of gonorrhea occur in the U.S. annually, of 106 million people each year who are infected worldwide
