Drugs can't cure tinnitus, but in some cases they may help reduce the severity of symptoms or complications. Possible medications include:
Tricyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptyline and nortriptyline, have been used with some success. However, these medications are generally used for only severe tinnitus, as they can cause troublesome side effects, including dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation and heart problems.
Alprazolam (Niravam, Xanax) may help reduce tinnitus symptoms, but side effects can include drowsiness and nausea. It also can become habit-forming.

A) “Sermion®” / Nicergoline (มีขนาด 10 และ 30 มิลลิกรัม) ยานี้มีฤทธิ์ขยายหลอดเลือด ขนาดยาโดยทั่วไปคือกิน 30 – 60 มิลลิกรัมต่อวัน
อาการข้างเคียงที่อาจเกิดจากยานี้ เช่น ปากแห้ง คลื่นไส้ ท้องผูก ท้องเสีย แสบร้อนทรวงอก ร้อนวูบวาบ มึนงง นอนไม่หลับ อยากอาหาร เป็นต้น
สำหรับข้อมูลผลข้างเคียงของยานี้ต่อตับ ไต ยังมีข้อมูลน้อย แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม เคยมีรายงานการเกิดภาวะไตอักเสบเฉียบพลันในหลังจากใช้ยา 1 เดือน

อาการข้างเคียงที่อาจเกิดจากยานี้ เช่น อาการไม่สบายท้อง คลื่นไส้อาเจียน ท้องเสีย ปัสสาวะบ่อย ปวดศรีษะ มึนงง และอาการทางผิวหนัง เช่น ผื่น แดง คัน เป็นต้น นอกจากนั้นมีรายงานพบว่า การใช้ยานี้อาจสัมพันธ์กับการเกิดความผิดปกติของตับ
ทั้ง Nicergoline และ betahistine จะถูกแปรรูปที่ตับ และขับออกจากร่างกายทางไต ดังนั้น ผู้ที่มีโรคประจำตัว เช่น โรคตับ โรคไต ควรแจ้งให้แพทย์ทราบก่อนใช้ยานี้
