Researchers from the University of Copenhagen link methylated selenium compound to increased anti-cancer immune response. The methylated selenium compounds from selenium yeast fight cancer through two pathways: apoptosis & anti-angiogenesis through the formation of NKG2D.

โดย 2 สับปดาห์แรก คนไขได้รับ Bio-Chromium ของฟาร์มานอร์ด วันละ100mcg (วันละ1เม็ด) พร้อมอาหารเช้า หลังจากนั้น ได้รับ Bio-Chromium ของฟาร์มานอร์ด วันละ 200mcg (วันละ1เม็ด) พร้อมอาหารเช้า คนไข้ไม่มีการปรับเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมแต่อย่างใด และมีการติดตาม 8 สับปดาห์ ว่าโครเมี่ยมทำให้เกิดการดื้อต่ออินซูลินหรือไม่ เมื่อสิ้นสุดการศึกษาและหยุดให้ Bio-Chromium
จากการศึกษาครั้งนี้พบว่า Bio-Chromium สามารถช่วยลดระดับน้ำตาลในเลือด(FBG) และ HbA1c(glycosylated hemoglobin) ได้อย่างมีนัยสำคัญ นอกจากนั้นยังพบว่าขนาด 200mcg และ 100mcg ช่วยลดระดับสารทั้ง2ชนิดได้ไม่แตกต่างกัน เพราะฉะนั้นขนาดที่แนะนำคือ 100 mcg ก็เพียงพอ และที่สำคัญจากการการติดตามเมื่อสิ้นสุดการศึกษาและหยุดให้ Bio-Chromium พบว่าไม่ทำให้เกิดการดื้อต่ออินซูลินอีกด้วย เนื่องจากระดับน้ำตาลในเลือด(FBG) และ HbA1c(glycosylated hemoglobin) ของคนไข้กลับไปมีระดับเท่าเดิม ไม่เพิ่มขึ้นจากก่อนการศึกษาหรือก่อนได้รับ Bio-Chromiumหลังจากการติดตาม 8 สับปดาห์

Magnesium reduces risk of cardiovascular disease
A new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition concludes that by eating magnesium-rich foods or taking supplements of magnesium, you can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, including ischemic heart disease, a condition where the heart's blood supply is reduced.
The study was a meta-analysis of a total of 16 previous studies involving 313,041 persons and 11,995 with cardiovascular disease, 7534 with ischemic heart disease and 2,686 with critical heart disease.
The meta-analysis showed that dietary magnesium with high statistical certainty reduced the risk of ischemic heart disease. An increase of 200 mg of magnesium per day was associated with a 22% lower risk of ischemic heart disease. Circulating magnesium in the blood, which also represents the amount absorbed from the gut and renal regulation, lowered with high confidence the risk of cardiovascular disease and tended to also lowering the risk of ischemic heart disease and critical heart disease. An increase in the blood of 0.2 mmol/L magnesium was associated with a 30% lower risk of cardiovascular disease.
Magnesium works on cardiovascular disease by enhancing endothelium-dependent vasodilation, by improving fat metabolism, reducing inflammation and inhibiting platelet function. Magnesium is also an important electrolyte required for the heart's normal electrical activity, known as the sinus rhythm.

How much Vitamin C do you need?
The more you need vitamin C the more will you absorb. Thus infections, cancer and also cardio vascular disease will increase the body's need for vitamin C. You notice this when you can take large amounts of vitamin C without experiencing any side effects like diarrhea.
The saturating dose is dependent on the need for vitamin C, and if there is nothing wrong, you will quickly get diarrhea, perhaps after ingestion of 1 to 2 grams. If you have cancer or incipient flu, colds, sore throat, mononucleosis, burns (generating many free radicals) this will raise the saturation limit, and you get perhaps diarrhea after ingestion of 10 to 50 grams. It's official: EFSA approves ChromoPrecise chromium yeast

This is why statins make your muscles hurt
Cholesterol-lowering statins inhibit an important compound called coenzyme Q10 and that is what causes muscle pain and impaired glucose tolerance in some patients, according to a new Danish study.
40% of patients taking cholesterol-lowering statins experienced aching muscles and impaired exercise tolerance in a new Danish study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. In addition, the scientists observed a tendency towards impaired glucose handling and lowered insulin sensitivity. The new study adds to the growing pile of evidence that statins, although they are effective cholesterol-lowering agents, do come with a price.
* Reduced levels of Q10
What appears to be the underlying cause of the symptoms is that statins inhibit not only cholesterol but also a vital compound called coenzyme Q10, which is responsible for generating energy in the “powerhouses” (mitochondria) of cells, especially muscle cells.
When muscle cells are not able to produce enough energy to function properly, problems like pain and lowered exercise tolerance may occur. In fact, as much as 75% of athletes who take statins may have aching muscles, obviously because they put more strain on their muscle mass.
Supplements help *
Interestingly, taking supplements of coenzyme Q10 together with the statin drugs can counteract the risk of these side effects. This was shown in a study from 2007 where American scientists assigned pain-afflicted statin users to either a daily 100 mg supplement of coenzyme Q10 or identical “dummy” pills (placebo) for a one-month period. Those patients who got the coenzyme Q10 supplement with their medicine had a 40% reduction in muscle pain and felt far less limited by their side effects than those in the control group who got the placebo.

Taking supplements of Ubiquinol, the active form of coenzyme Q10, significantly reduces plaque adhesion and bleeding gums, a japanese study shows.
Japanese researchers from Nihon University School of Dentistry confirmed the effects of Ubiquinol, the reduced form of coenzyme Q10, in improving oral health in a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial. Ubiquinol is commonly known as active Q10, since this form of the substance is the one used in the energy production of the cells (ATP).
Forty five volunteers with mild to middle degree of periodontal disease (37 men, 8 women,
average age: 39.4 years old) were given ubiquinol (150 mg/day) or placebo for 2 months. Plaque adhesion, pocket depth, bleeding, gingival recession, foul breath and antioxidative activity in saliva were examined before and after one and two months of supplementation.
As a result, after two months of supplementation, statistically significant improvements in plaque adhesion and bleeding by probing were observed in the ubiquinol group. A tendency to increase saliva antioxidant activity was also observed in the ubiquinol group and the members of this group also had less foul breath.

Heart Patient avoids heart transplantation with Q10
This month the popular Danish women's magazine ‘Famile Journal’ brings the gripping account of the 64-year-old Max Buus, who 27 years ago was told that he had no more than six months to live unless he received a heart transplant. As heart transplants were not done in Denmark at that time the prospects for survival were not good, but then Max joined an experimental study with Bio-Qinone Q10.
Max's rescue came from an unexpected front. At the National Hospital's Heart Center Chief Physician Svend Aage Mortensen had heard about an American professor of biochemistry who recommended the substance Q10 in patients with impaired pump function of the heart. So with permission from the Board of Health, Dr. Mortensen in 1988 started to prescribe Q10 on a trial basis for some of the hospital's heart patients, including Max Buus, and for this he praises himself lucky today.
Max was prescribed Bio-Qinone Q10,100 mg, the same kind of Q10 used in Q-Symbio study which showed that patients with chronic heart failure reduced the risk of dying from heart disease by 43%, and also experienced significantly fewer inconveniences from the disease.
